Canadian Drug Shows Promising Results in Treating Alzheimer’s Disease

Thursday 30 August 2012 - Filed under Canadian Drugs

In seek for a more dependable verification of early Alzheimer’s disease, study researchers deem they have recognized a gauge of alteration in the brain that precedes the beginning of the disease by 5 to 10 years. With this, to buy Seroquel online cheap can be considered reasonably.

“These markers can identify individuals at high risk for future Alzheimer’s disease at least five to 10 years before conversion to dementia,” study author Dr. Peder Buchhave, of Lund University and Skane University in Sweden, noted in a journal news release. “Hopefully, new therapies that can retard or even halt progression of the disease will soon be available. Together with an early and accurate diagnosis, such therapies could be initiated before neuronal degeneration is too widespread and patients are already demented.”

Dr. Sam Gandy, associate director of the Mount Sinai Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City, added “the results of the European study largely echo those of a trial reported by researchers at the U.S. National Institutes of Health in 2010.”

He noted, “methods of early detection might prove valuable for research into the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease.” And, will enable Canadian drug online to help patients the earliest time possible.

“Most new Alzheimer’s drugs are aimed at reducing amyloid [protein plaque] accumulation, and the general consensus is that these drugs will only work at early or presymptomatic stages of disease,” said Gandy, who is also Mount Sinai Chair in Alzheimer’s Disease Research. “The new paper strengthens the likelihood that CSF biomarkers can be useful for identifying that population of subjects with early or presymptomatic disease in order to recruit them into trials.”

At present, the best step for early-stage Alzheimer’s disease is to buy generic Seroquel.

Canada Pharmacy Reports a New Discovery in Brain Injury Treatment

Wednesday 22 August 2012 - Filed under Canada Pharmacy + Canadian Drugs

A Canada drug that’s normally utilized to heal the flu and Parkinson’s disease seems to hasten treatment in brain injury patients.

“Symmetrel appeared to increase the rate of recovery compared to placebo. Patients got better faster while they were on the drug,” said study co-author Joseph Giacino, director of rehabilitation neuropsychology at the Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital, in Boston, and an associate professor in the department of physical medicine and rehabilitation at Harvard Medical School.

Study co-author Dr. John Whyte, director of the Moss Rehabilitation Research Institute at Albert Einstein Healthcare Network, in the Philadelphia area, said previous observational studies had suggested to buy Symmetrel and improved the rate of recovery.

“There were many hypotheses out there about what this drug should do, but there was very little data to support or refute those hypotheses,” Whyte explained.

“During the four-week treatment period, recovery was significantly faster in the Symmetrel group than the placebo group,” said Giacino.

The ability of patients in a vegetative state or those in the MCS “to access rehab has gotten less and less,” Whyte said. “Many of these patients go straight to a nursing home or home with family.” He noted

The new finding “is very exciting because we have a new tool to help improve these patients in their early outcome,” said one expert, Dr. J. Javier Provencio, director of the Neurocritical Care Fellowship Program at the Cerebrovascular Center of the Cleveland Clinic Neurological Institute.

“The take-home message is that this medicine is promising for patients in a very certain setting. I think the results have to be taken very strictly and not extrapolated to other conditions,” said Provencio.

That means that, “it is still unclear whether the effects last,” Provencio said. “In the study, by week six, the effect difference was getting smaller. I hope they follow these patients out to a year to see how they do.”

Study co-author Giacino said they were surprised when they saw an immediate leveling off between the two groups in the final two weeks.

“But when I take a step back, it is even stronger evidence that this drug was doing something,” he added.

Neurologist Dr. Daniel Labovitz, of Montefiore Medical Center in New York City, believes hope should remain in check despite the promising results. “It’s not a home run. It’s a small change and it was temporary, and I think that would be the message that has to come through.”

Labovitz said the drug appears to be gently waking the patients. “If this trial holds up in larger, longer-term studies, maybe you can enhance the ability of [rehabilitation] therapists to interact with patients while they’re on the drug.”

“There was not a single category where the Symmetrel group had a higher rate of side effects than the placebo group,” he said.

“This study isn’t the end of the story,” Whyte said. Together with the Canada pharmacy, this story will continue.

BMD Ranks High among Canada Pharmacies in Terms of Drug Availability

Wednesday 15 August 2012 - Filed under Online Canadian Pharmacies

A patient can encounter various problems when purchasing medications through a pharmacist. One of the most common problems is the unavailability of medications. There are only a few times that a person visits one pharmacy and fills the entire prescription without a problem. It is a common problem faced by many consumers to find one medication from one pharmacy and the other from another. This can be extremely frustrating, as well as, time consuming. Big Mountain Drugs (BMD) is a reputed online Canada pharmacy. It is a pharmacy known for its professionalism, high quality service and thankfully, availability of medication. These are some of the reasons they rank high among Canada pharmacies.

“There is always a worldwide shortage of medications” stated a spokesperson for BMD. “This results in many pharmaciesnot being able to fill their customers’ prescriptions. As a result, these customers have to visit many other pharmacies to fill their prescriptions. It may take time and this could lead to patients delaying in purchasing their meds that can lead to many complications”. This statement is especially true as many consumers, if they do not purchase their medications on time, may complicate their situation further. However, this problem is not seen in Big Mountain Pharmacy.

BMD has been supplying medications to thousands for a number of years. It is a pharmacy that cares about customer safety and satisfaction. This pharmacy understands the frustration of not being able to purchase essential medications due to unavailability. One of the main aims of the company is to ensure that prescription and over-the-counter medications are always available for their customers. They also offer almost all medications in branded and generic forms. “Supplying medications is our business” continued the representative. “We are what we are because of how we serve our customers. Our customers are always placed first and, therefore, they can be sure we will do everything within our power to make sure that the medication they need is available to them”.

Customers of BMD are extremely satisfied with this pharmacy. When questioned on his views of medication availability at BMD, Mr Ron Peterson, 68, of North Carolina had this to say, “BMD is an exceptionally professional pharmacy. I have been purchasing medication from them for a few years. Not once have I been inconvenienced by these people due to the unavailability of medication. They have always seen to it, that a regular supply of medication is available for their customers”.

Mr Peter McLaren, 75, of Ellis Island, New York City, added his views on this, “No other pharmacy has impressed me so much than BMD. This pharmacy is a highly professional pharmacy and is never short on essential meds. I know I don’t have to run around looking for medication when I consider ordering through these sources”.

A recent poll showed us that BMD is ranked at the top in drug availability. This pharmacy is also ranked at the top in other aspects too. This comes as no surprise to BMD and its customers. “We source one type of medication from different manufacturers” stated the sales representative. “This ensures us that if one manufacturer defaults with their supplying of medication, we can always count on another to supply us with the same medication. This, guarantees us that we never run out and will always provide our customers with their medication.”

Canadian Pharmacy Warns Recipients of Smoker’s Lungs for Transplant

Sunday 15 July 2012 - Filed under Canadian Pharmacy

Should the lungs of smokers be included in lung transplants? A new study suggests their inclusion may be warranted. The issue raised is whether to continue with Generic Alimta for medication or consider lung transplant even if the donor is a smoker.

The issue is not just a British one — speaking to the Associated Press, Dr. Normam Edelman, chief medical officer for the American Lung Association, said smokers’ lungs are also used for transplant in the United States, although he did not have data on how common the practice might be.

But the bottom line from the new study is that “patients awaiting lung transplantation in the U.K. are likely to survive longer if they are willing to accept lungs from any suitable donor, irrespective of smoking history,” lead author Dr. Robert Bonser, of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham and the University of Birmingham, said in a journal news release. “Donors with a positive smoking history provide nearly 40 percent of the lungs available for transplantation [in the U.K.] Rejection of this donor-organ resource would increase waiting-list mortality and is ill-advised.”

“Although lungs from such donors are associated with worse outcomes, the individual probability of survival is greater if they are accepted than if they are declined and the patient chooses to wait for a potential transplant from a donor with a negative smoking history,” the authors wrote. “This situation should be fully explained to and discussed with patients who are accepted for lung transplantation.”

One expert in the United States said the study “raises a few issues.”

Dr. Len Horovitz, pulmonary specialist at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City, said that “because many patients may die awaiting transplant, one might argue that a lung damaged by smoking (not severely) would be better than no functioning lung at all. But lungs of smokers may be mild or moderately damaged (COPD), and also carry the risk of lung cancer, especially with post operative chronic use of immune suppressors. Nevertheless, in a dying patient, the prolongation of life — however long that may be — [and] the benefit is clear.”

Although these findings have clear implications for the United Kingdom, it “is important to realize that the relation between risk of dying on the waiting list and the benefit of accepting a transplant from a donor with a substantial smoking history can vary by country and center,” Dr. Shaf Keshavjee and Dr. Marcelo Cypel of the Toronto Lung Transplant Program of the University Health Network in Canada, wrote in an accompanying commentary in the journal. This is regarded very important if to buy Alimta online could no longer withstand the condition of the patient.

Canada Pharmacy Coupon Prevents Brain Cancer and Leukemia among Kids

Thursday 28 June 2012 - Filed under Uncategorized

Children who undergo CT scans of the head may raise their risk of developing brain cancer or leukemia later in life, a new study says. As such, this increases their possibility to buy Arimidex cheap to treat such illnesses.

“We have shown small increased risks associated with the radiation exposures from CT,” said study co-author Louise Parker, from the Canadian Cancer Society and a professor of medicine and pediatrics at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

“As long as CT is used only where justified, then the benefits of CT, a potentially lifesaving modality, will almost certainly outweigh the risks,” she said.

Lead study author Amy Berrington de Gonzalez, from the U.S. National Cancer Institute, said this study is the first to look at the actual cancer risk of radiation from CT scans.

“All the previous studies about the potential risk of CT scans have been theoretical studies using models from other radiation-exposed populations,” she said. Specifically, they studied the results of radiation exposure after atom bombs were dropped on Japan during World War II.

“Parents should talk to their health care providers and ask for the reasons for the scan, if one is recommended,” Berrington de Gonzalez said. “They can also check if CT scanners are set appropriately for the age and size of the child to ensure that the doses are optimized. If this is done, the benefits of the scan should outweigh the small cancer risk.”

Richard Morin, chair of the American College of Radiology’s Dose Index Registry and chief medical physicist at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Fla., said this is an epidemiological study that shows an association, but not necessarily a cause-and-effect relationship.

However, “CT scans should be used wisely, and there should be a medical reason why the scan is being done and as long as there is a sufficient medical reason then the benefit far outweighs the risk with regard to radiation,” he said. “It’s not zero. However, it’s a better approach than surgery with sedation and its possible complications.”

Parents should ask their doctor if the procedure is necessary or whether there are different tests that can get the same information without radiation, such as ultrasound or an MRI, Morin said.

Parents should also keep track of the tests done and the radiation levels used so they can show doctors if their child is seen at different facilities, he said. This is regardless of the generic Arimidex available for immediate or lifetime relief.

Canada Pharmacies Laud US Bill to end Price Hiking and Drug Shortages

Thursday 28 June 2012 - Filed under Canada Pharmacies

Elijah Cummings, Representative from Maryland is introducing a new bill that aims at curbing price hiking during shortages of drugs and take measures to prevent shortages. Drug shortages prompted President Obama to issue an executive order in last October. Steps taken by FDA after the executive order have been able to reduce some drug shortages. FDA enforced its discretion and allowed the importation of Lipodox will be imported as an alternative to Doxil when it was not available. The chemotherapeutic drug Doxil is used to treat ovarian cancer and AIDS-related Kaposi’s sarcoma and multiple myeloma. FDA also has notified the manufacturers to provide advanced information regarding anticipated shortages.

Two important proposals in the bill are prohibiting of wholesalers who normally buy medicines from manufacturers and re-sell them to hospitals and pharmacies, from buying drugs from pharmacies and establishing a database of drug wholesalers. The drug shortages occur due to many causes. Shutdowns of manufacturing plants due to contamination, plant breakdowns and maintenance etc. are number one cause. Increased demand for some drugs, companies dropping the production of low-profit medicines, consolidation in the generic drug industry and limited supplies of some ingredients also are some other causes for drug shortages. Some manufacturers, wholesalers and pharmacies see drug shortages as an opportunity to make money.

During shortages, some pharmacies may sell the drugs at a price more than ten times the normal price it was sold. Cummings’s bill aims mainly at preventing such price increases.

There are vast differences in the prices at different pharmacies. “Some times a drug that costs as low as $20 in one pharmacy can cost more than $125 in another pharmacy few blocks away” says a user who buys drugs only after checking the prices at a couple of pharmacies.

She asks “You shop for the best price when you pump gas or buy a car. Why not for your prescription drugs?” A spokesperson for the top Canada pharmacy, Big Mountain Drugs (BMD) said “Our online pharmacy is one option that helps customers to save money when they buy their requirements of prescription medications.”

She said “Our wide range of drugs prescription and over the counter drugs are priced at affordable prices and are some times cost a fraction of the prices at US pharmacies. We offer the generic versions of most brand name drugs, giving the customers an opportunity to save more. Low prices, high quality and our delivery to doorstep service make us the number one choice for most customers when buying their prescription medications.”

Canadian Pharmacy Highlights the Importance of Anti-Smoking Campaigns

Wednesday 20 June 2012 - Filed under Canadian Pharmacy

Only a small percentage of the billions of dollars states take in from tobacco revenues goes to anti-smoking efforts, a new federal report finds. While an indirectly proportional billions of dollars as well go into the purchase of generic Advair since more and more people are engaged to smoke.

“The findings were disheartening. Not investing the money in tobacco control programs is shortsighted and demonstrates a lack of knowledge in the return on investment for tobacco control programs,” said Dan Jacobsen of the Center for Tobacco Control at North Shore-LIJ Health System in Great Neck, NY.

“If states funded tobacco control programs at the CDC recommended level, I feel the results would be dramatic and realized sooner than expected,” he added. “By providing proper funding to these programs it would help prevent tobacco-related death and disease and greatly reduce the health care cost associated with them.”

“The results of this analysis show an increasing gap between state investments in tobacco control and best practices recommendations,” the researchers wrote. “Although all states derive revenues from cigarette excise taxes, few states have a statutory requirement requiring that a portion of these revenues be dedicated to tobacco control and prevention.” This is to lessen the action to buy Advair among smokers experiencing lung diseases.

“Instead, most cigarette tax revenues are being used for general purposes. In addition, although state cigarette excise taxes have increased nationally, the Institute of Medicine has noted that recent tax increases largely have come in response to shortfalls in state budgets rather than as initiatives to increase spending on tobacco control.”

Responding to the report, Dr. Donna Shelley, an associate professor of medicine at NYU School of Medicine, said: “The tobacco control community has been advocating for years, unsuccessfully, to earmark even 5 cents for every dollar of tobacco tax collected, for implementing CDC recommended programs and policies. With tight budgets the problem has only gotten worse.”

“However, there is no better return on investment in terms of public health benefit than funding the full spectrum of policies, media and other tobacco control program components recommended by the CDC,” she added. “New York State is a great example of what can be achieved when tobacco funding is maintained, albeit not at the CDC recommended levels. In New York we continue to see annual drops in smoking rates from 21.6 percent in 2003 to 15.5 percent in 2010.” Canadian pharmacy is more than glad to see this drop since it is a manifestation of healthier living.

Canadian Pharmacies Assist High-Cholesterol Patients

Tuesday 5 June 2012 - Filed under Canadian Pharmacy

Kids with HIV who undergo antiretroviral medications using generic Zocor have constant excessive cholesterol and other blood fat (lipid) levels, and would gain from instructions targeted at minimizing their continuing heart threats.

“Formal guidelines are the first crucial step in minimizing cardiovascular disease complications and maximizing quality of life in this vulnerable population,” the authors of an editorial stated in a journal news release. “The most effective strategy probably consists of a ‘lipid-friendly’ drug regimen — meaning medications that don’t affect blood fats — along with lifestyle changes, such as diet and exercise,” according to them.

Cholesterol levels were more vulnerable to decrease when alterations were done to their antiretroviral medication. In majority of cases, treatment modifications were linked to the status of their HIV, and not because of their increasing lipid levels. Only some children were instructed to buy Zocor particularly to control their cholesterol.

Based on another study, study researchers at the Imperial College School of Medicine, London, made a comparison of the results of various HIV drugs on 449 HIV-infected kids’ lipid levels. They saw all of the medications resulted to an increase in cholesterol. The type of HIV drugs termed as protease inhibitors, specifically, caused the greatest boost.

In five years, 10 percent of the kids acquired low-density lipoprotein (“bad”) cholesterol levels beyond the 95th percentile. However, from those numbers, only three patients were required to consume cholesterol medication.

Since HIV-infected kids are likely to live healthy into maturity, the study researchers stated, “treatment strategies need to be developed that will protect them against heart disease later in life.”

“Clinical trials are required to develop and test intervention strategies to protect against cardiovascular disease in children born with HIV, growing into adult life,” Dr. Margaret P. Rhoads of Imperial College and co-authors conveyed in the news release. And, Canadian pharmacies are all out to support this cause.
